Psychomotor Authorization To Test Letters Coming Soon

October 27, 2016
October 27, 2016 - Effective January 1, 2017, any candidate for advanced level certification (AEMT, I-99 or Paramedic) will be required to obtain a Psychomotor Authorization to Test (PATT) letter before registering for the NREMT advanced level psychomotor examination. The PATT will only be used by the NREMT, and it is similar to the Authorization to Test (ATT) process that has been in place for cognitive examinations since 2007.

To make a reservation for an NREMT advanced level psychomotor examination, candidates will be required to provide their PATT number to reservation coordinators instead of their Social Security number. Candidates will also need to bring their PATT letter with them on the day of their examination to be admitted to the examination site. These changes are being made to reduce errors and better safeguard candidates' confidential information.

The change to the PATT system will affect any candidate who is registering for an advanced level psychomotor examination on or after January 1, 2017.

Additional information detailing how to obtain a PATT Letter will be provided closer to the effective date. This change comes as part of the January 1, 2017, launch of Phase 1 of the NREMT Paramedic psychomotor examination process. Submission of Social Security numbers has been eliminated from the application process as a direct response to concerns from advanced level examination coordinators.

If you have questions, please contact the NREMT at 614-888-4484 or exams@nremt.org. Thank you for your understanding of and assistance with this change as we work to improve the National EMS Certification process.
